Karina Guerrero
Bio
Guerrero born in Caracas, Venezuela coming from a Colombian family, she graduated as an engineer in 2012 and moved to Miami, USA, in 2015: without the full knowledge of the language, Guerrero ignited her passion for painting with patterns, that echo the rich tapestry of Colombian culture, drawing inspiration from the architecture and crafts of her heritage, This artistic journey has become her language and the way to remain connected to her roots while discovering her own voice. Currently based in Knoxville, Tennessee, since 2024, her self-taught work is constantly changing as she questions her approach to the medium and herself as an artist.
Artist Statement
Every piece of art, according to Karina Guerrero, is “a question and an answer.” She believes that understanding our most inner feelings and our subcontinent’s deep roots is the key to understanding ourselves and answering the question, “What is my version of happiness?”
