Sherwin Cadore
Bio
Sherwin is a Brooklyn-based artist originally from Trinidad & Tobago and Grenada in the southern Caribbean. Although a long-time art hobbyist, it wasn’t until 2021 that Sherwin decided to consciously improve his artistic skills by following a self-directed curriculum of online courses and exploration of various mediums, including oil and acrylic paintings, watercolors, gouache, ink, and digital art.
In 2022, art became more than a creative pastime, as Sherwin transitioned from his career in Financial Services Technology Sales into a full-time professional artist. He has consistently participated in various local art fair exhibitions since then.
Artist Statement
As an oil painter, I am inspired by the beauty of the natural world and its inhabitants. My portraits showcase the intricacies of the human form and our connection to our physical landscape. I strive for a balance between realism and abstraction, creating pieces that are both familiar and unexpected.
I draw inspiration from my own journey of leaving behind a corporate career for a life of creative exploration, self-discovery, and connection. Whether it is a portrait, landscape or purely imaginative piece, I hope to engage viewers in a conversation that encourages them to explore the limits of their own imaginations and to see the world in a new and deeper way.
